From Costa Rica to Durham 🌊-- Updates from out Water for Living Project in Costa Rica
I just returned to Durham from Costa Rica, where I caught up with LiveGlobally's Director of Global Children's Programs, Pablo Robles, who is at the halfway mark on his bicycle trek across the USA to raise money for our Water For Living Project. He's taking a break from the bike to unite with me and Executive Director of LiveGlobally (headquartered here in Durham, NC), nina be, to strategize and coordinate the implementation of the Project there in Drake Bay. I'm excited to share with you a few highlights from our beautiful trip to Costa Rica.
Drake Bay is growing rapidly and has many rudimentary needs that LiveGlobally is inspired to provide -- access to clean water and improved educational opportunity among them. 1 in 4 children suffer from gastrointestinal viral infections (especially in the youngest children) and there is no education opportunity for children over the age of 12.
Our team has organized the implementation of a pilot fresh water project at the elementary school there while meeting with the community leaders of Drake Bay. This will serve the 95 children who attend the school and their families by January, 2019 -
We are collaborating with Trista Goforth, founder of Corcovado Kids.
Here she is teaching in Drake Bay. Besides clean water, there is an immediate need for more teachers, more classroom space, expanded curriculum and education access for children over the age of 12.
Great work, team!
Thank you all for joining us in weaving our global fabric -- together we are changing the world!
