Our Happy Minds, Heathy Bodies program teaches effective communication and collaboration in the face of violence, by promoting concepts such as respect, compassion, and interconnectedness within community.
The MBCY/Happy Minds, Healthy Bodies curriculum is based on researched methodology of a trauma-sensitive approach to body/mind coherence, that happens in environments of support, communication and lovingkindness. Our classes allow the youth to access and integrate all aspects of their body with the goal to self-regulate from an inner-calm. Ultimately, this practice supports our participant’s ability to develop and enhance their empathic identity from their weekly MBCY practice .
The MBCY/Happy Minds, Healthy Bodies teaches children creative self-expression while promoting positive self-regard. Community practices create mindfulness as a constant state of being. For youth, yoga is a great way to enjoy non-competitive physical activity, and it encourages self-esteem and body awareness. Traditionally, we have found that 1 or 2 weekly 30-minute MBCY classes, focused on non-punitive love and individualized attention, give children self-regulating skills that improve focus, stimulate curiosity for better learning, enhance their ability to communicate and collaborate in a group.
Our MBCY teachers, trained in trauma-sensitive techniques that support and empower individuals, love observing how MBCY practice opens young minds into deeper resources of commitment and purpose in the world around them. With the option of non-competitive physical activity in the realms of self expression and creativity, our youth flourish!
